In a typical music class, students experience the following routine:
Our school district's music literacy curriculum is modeled after the Conversational Solfege curriculum. This is a sound before sight approach to reading music that is structured after the way children learn language. Students explore a musical concept, such as quarter notes and eighth note pairs, through a series of 12 steps:
- Pitch exploration, echoing, and/or singing game
- Conversational Solfege music literacy curriculum
- Movement exploration, folk dancing, and/or recorder techniques.
