Pitch Exploration "Pathways": Have your child draw a path on a piece of paper or whiteboard. Trace the path with your finger. On a neutral syllable (such as "oo" or "ahhh"), make your voices get higher when the path goes up, and lower when the path goes down.
Conversational Solfege Step 6 "Read Patterns by Echoing"- Please use the 8 "red" patterns below. Have parent read one pattern at a time, challenging the child to echo them at the same speed. Switch jobs. Change the order to mix it up (go backwards, odds, evens, etc). Feel free to add a back beat to make it fun and help maintain a steady beat! Below is music I use in class.
Conversational Solfege Step 7 "Read Familiar Patterns"- Using the familiar "red" patterns in step 6, challenge your child to read them on their own. Mix it up- take turns reading patterns (I'll read odds, you read evens, etc). Feel free to add a back beat to make it fun! Below is music I use in class.
Movement Exploration "Going Fishing"- This is a body part leading activity. One person pretends to be a fisher, the others are the fish. The fisher tells the fish what he/she will catch them by. When the fisher pretends to reel in, the fish travel towards the fisher, leading with whatever body part they are caught by. Feel free to add some fund ocean sounds or music from your favorite ocean-themed movie!
