Workout Plan:

Picture

Activity Directions:

  1. Beat Motion "Keeping the Beat #22"- Find ways to show the beat of the music on your body.  Parents copy child.  Child copy parents.
  2. Pitch Exploration "Siren Whistle"- Create ambulance siren noises with your voice and copy each other.
  3. Echo Song "Bill Grogen's Goat"-  Sing each line of the song parent echoing child.  Try again with child echoing parent.
  4. Simple Song "Johnny had One Friend"-  Sing together, alone, take turns singing a verse, while showing how many friends on hand.
  5. Movement Exploration (body parts) "Read My Mind"- Put on some of your favorite music.  Think of a body part that your child has to move to the music.  They have to guess what part you are thinking of by moving it to the music.
  6. Movement for Form and Expression "Move It #3"- Have your child show you the choreographed moves to this song.  Perform together.
  7. Arioso "I Sing Like This"-  Have child use their singing voice and use the words "I sing like this."  Try the same thing with whisper, speak, and shout.
  8. Beat Motion "Grandma's Glasses"-  Recite the poem and add movements.
  9. Beat Motion "Frog in the Meadow"- Find something at home to play on to the beat.  You could use spoons, pots and pans, a pillow, etc.
  10. Songtale "Jennie Jenkins"- Listen to the story together and follow along.  Try to sing the story together.

    Lyrics-
There was a man. (echo each line)
    Now please take note
    There was a man
    Who had a goat
    He loved that goat
    Indeed he did
    He loved the goat
    Just like a kid
    One day that goat
    Felt frisk and fine
    Ate 3 red shirts
    Right off the line
    That man he grabbed
    Him by the back
    And tied him to
    The railroad tracks
    Now when the train
    Came into sight
    The goat grew pale
    And green with fright
    He heaved a sigh
    As if in pain
    Coughed up those shirts
    And flagged the train

And puts them in her lap (place folded hands on lap)
These are grandpa's glasses (make large circles with hands to look through)

    Lyrics-
Will you wear white, oh my dear, oh my dear?  Will you wear white Jennie Jenkins?

I won't wear white for the color's too bright.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
Will you wear red, oh my dear, oh my dear?  Will you wear red Jennie Jenkins?
I won't wear red.  It's the color of my head.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
Will you wear blue, oh my dear, oh my dear?  Will you wear blue Jennie Jenkins?

I will wear blue if your love is true.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
Will you wear green, oh my dear, oh my dear?  Will you wear green Jennie Jenkins?

I won't wear green.  It's a shame to be seen.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
Will you wear purple, oh my dear, oh my dear?  Will you wear purple Jennie Jenkins?

I won't wear purple. It's the color of a turtle.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
Will you wear black, oh my dear, oh my dear?  Will you wear black Jennie Jenkins?

I won't wear black.  It's the color of my sack.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
Then what will you wear, oh my dear, oh my dear?  What will you wear Jennie Jenkins?

I have nothing to wear.  I can't go anywhere.
    I'll buy me a fol-dee-rol-dee, til-dee-tol-dee, seek-a-double roll, Jennie Jenkins roll.
