Meet Mrs. McFarland

Welcome to the new PCS Music website!  My name is Katie McFarland and I will be your music teacher.  I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education.  My main instrument is clarinet and I was principal clarinetist of the Symphonic Band my final year in college. I am currently a Music Education graduate student at Adams State University.  I am certified in the Orff Schulwerk, First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege.

I live in South Paris with my husband, Duncan.  Both of us are music teachers which means we spend a lot of time making, teaching, and listening to music!

My favorite thing about being a music teacher is getting other people excited about music!  It is part of what makes us human and helps us  develop sensitivity, teamwork, self-discipline, and purpose in our lives.

Outside of music class I like to visit new places, bake, go to festivals and museums, surprise other people, tease kitties, and visit the ocean.

I have a feeling that it is going to be marvelous year with some awesome students!
